Fees are reviewed each January and the page is updated the same day. If a treatment turns out to need more than we quoted, you hear about it before it happens, not on the invoice.

What the room is actually like
Two surgeries, both on the ground floor, both with a window. There is a screen in the ceiling if you would rather look at something, headphones if you would rather not hear it, and a blanket in the drawer because the building is cold in February and nobody relaxes when they are shivering.
Appointments are booked at the length the work needs rather than the length the diary prefers, which is why we can run to time and why you are only ever in reception for a few minutes.

The things people ring up and ask
Written the way they are asked, rather than the way a dental website would prefer to answer them. Nothing hidden behind a plus sign.
- Does it hurt?
- Most of what we do does not, and the part that would is numbed first — including the numbing, with a gel that goes on a few minutes before the injection. You have a hand signal that stops everything, and it works every single time you use it. If you have had a bad experience somewhere else, tell us at the start rather than halfway through.
- I have not been to a dentist in years. Will I get a lecture?
- No. Around a third of the people who register here have avoided a dentist for more than five years, and the reasons are almost always fear, money or one bad appointment in 1998. None of those are improved by being told off. The first visit is a look and a plan, not a list of failings.
- Can I pay monthly?
- Yes, on anything over £500, spread across three to twelve months at 0% — the planner further up this page shows the real figure for each treatment. Finance is arranged through a third-party provider and is subject to status; the practice does not decide who is approved. Under £500 we do not offer it, because the paperwork costs more than the convenience is worth.
- Do you see children?
- Yes. Children under 12 are seen free alongside a registered parent, on the same appointment where that suits everybody. The first visit is usually a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth and nothing else, which is deliberate.
- What happens in an emergency?
- Ring before ten in the morning and you will be seen the same day — slots are held back for exactly this and released at lunchtime if nobody needs them. Outside opening hours the answerphone gives you the out-of-hours number, and it is a real one that a person answers.
- Do you take NHS patients?
- No, and it would be easier to be vague about that than to say it on the homepage. This is a private practice. If an NHS place is what you need, we will tell you which local practices had a list open the last time we checked rather than book you in and hope.

Tuesday and Thursday run to half seven for people who cannot take time off. Closed on bank holidays, and we ring you first if a closure moves your appointment.

- Six minutes on foot from Wilmslow station — left out of the entrance, then left again at the lights.
- Parking
- Two spaces behind the building, entered from the alley beside the bakery. If both are taken, the long-stay car park on Chapel Row is ninety seconds away.
- Getting in
- A flat entrance straight off the pavement, no steps anywhere in the building, and a surgery with room for a wheelchair to turn.
- The phone
- Ellen answers it. She has been here eleven years and can usually tell you whether you need to be seen today or on Thursday.
