What would more enquiries be worth?

No calculator can count the enquiries that never came, so this one shows what more of them would be worth. Put in four of your own numbers and it works out the enquiries and work your website brings in now, and what it would bring in if a bigger share of visitors got in touch. Every sum is written out, so you can check it.

Calls, forms and emails from the website, divided by visitors. If you do not track it, this is a guess, and so is the answer.

Each line is worked out from the figures shown above it: jobs to four decimal places, money to the penny.

Value of work won, before your costs. It is not profit, and it is only as good as the numbers you put in.

Assumptions you can change
Starts at your own 2.0% and goes up to 12.0%. It never goes below your rate, so it never shows a loss.
Assumes the same numbers every month for this long.

AssumptionOnly the share who get in touch changes. Visitors, the share you win and the job value stay as you entered them; edit your numbers to try others.

Method and assumptions

How the sum works.

  1. Enquiries a month are your visitors multiplied by the share who get in touch.
  2. Jobs a month are those enquiries multiplied by the share that become paying work.
  3. Work a month is jobs multiplied by your average job value. It is the value of work won before your costs come off.
  4. Assumption: the what if. Only the share of visitors who get in touch changes. It starts at your own rate and can go up to 10 points above it, never below, so the calculator never shows a loss you did not enter. That share is the number a website most directly affects: how clearly it explains what you do, how easy it is to contact you, and whether it works on a phone.
  5. Assumption: the same every month. The difference is counted over the number of months you choose (12 to start with), as if your visitors, win rate and job value stayed exactly as entered.
  6. Checkable working. Each line uses the figures shown on the line above it, so you can check every sum on a calculator. Jobs are shown to four decimal places and money to the penny, and the shares and job value take up to two decimal places.
  7. No benchmarks. There are no industry averages built in. The starting figures are examples, and everything you change is used as you typed it.

The sums run in your browser. Your numbers are not sent to Coltura or saved unless you ask us for the full report below.

The calculator shows what a better enquiry rate would be worth with your numbers. We look at your actual website and reply with what is most likely holding that rate down, and the few things worth fixing first.

We read every request and write each reply by hand, so it takes a little longer than an automated email.

Only if you would like a call as well.
