Local SEO for cafes

SEO for cafes, so the people nearby find you.

Local search is mostly groundwork. Google needs to understand what you do, where you do it, and that other people vouch for you. Your site also has to be fast enough to be worth ranking.

For cafes

What it means in your trade.

People look for cafes by what they want right now: brunch, flat white, gluten-free cake, dog-friendly cafe, somewhere to work with a laptop, afternoon tea. The groundwork is a site that names those things in plain text, a menu search engines can read, and a Google Business Profile with the right categories, photos, attributes and hours.

Reviews matter a great deal for cafes, because most people choose between two or three nearby. Asking regulars to leave one and replying to them keeps the profile active. What is realistic is being clearly described and easy to check. A site and profile that agree with each other give Google no reason to doubt you.

What is included

Exactly what you get.

Technical foundations: speed, mobile, crawlable structure, proper headings

Schema markup so your services, area and reviews are machine-readable

Google Business Profile set up and matched to the site

Pages for the places you actually cover

Titles and descriptions written for the person searching

Not included: paid links, ranking promises or impression-count reports. We report on enquiries.

Built for cafes

Made for your trade.

Every trade asks something different of its website. For a cafe, these are the parts built in.

  • A clear facts section covering seating, dogs, Wi-Fi, accessibility and parking, written in the way customers ask.
  • A cake and celebration order page with the options, notice needed and a form that asks for date, size and message.
  • A menu page in plain text that can be changed without a redesign, with dietary options marked.
  • A page for private hire or evening events, with capacity and what you can provide.
  • Your Google Business Profile completed with categories, attributes and hours that match the website.
  • Photos of the counter, the seating and the front of the building, compressed so pages load quickly on mobile.

What it costs

Included in the rebuild.

There is no separate SEO invoice. The groundwork is part of the £1,400 rebuild, one-off, in about 14 working days.

The free Growth Audit comes first either way, so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything.

Questions

The ones that come up.

How long before SEO does anything?

The technical work lands immediately; rankings move over weeks to months. Be wary of any promise of page one within a month.

Do you do SEO as a monthly retainer?

The groundwork is part of the rebuild. Ongoing care at £149 a month keeps it maintained. There is no separate SEO retainer.

Should we list dog-friendly and laptop-friendly on the site?

If they are true, yes. They are among the most common practical questions people have before visiting a cafe, and a plain answer on the page saves a wasted trip. If you prefer laptops not to take tables at lunchtime, say that too. Being clear about who is welcome, and when, avoids awkward conversations at the counter.

Can the website take bookings for private hire in the evening?

Yes. A private hire page can explain how many people the cafe holds, what food and drink you can provide, the hours available and any deposit. A short enquiry form collects the date, numbers and type of event, so you can reply with a price. It gives groups such as book clubs, baby showers and small parties somewhere clear to ask.

Do we need professional photos for a cafe website?

Not necessarily. Good photos taken on a recent phone in daylight are often enough, provided they show the counter, the seating, the food and the front of the building. We can advise on what to shoot. What matters is that the pictures are current and honest, so a visitor recognises the place when they arrive.
