Google Ads for local shops

Google Ads management for local shops, for clicks that turn into calls.

Ads show quickly whether your website converts, and money spent sending clicks to a weak page is lost. That is why the site comes first and the ads come second.

For local shops

What it means in your trade.

Ads are hard to justify for most local shops, because margins are thin and large retailers bid on the same product words. They can make sense for a service with a good margin, such as repairs, fitting or engraving, or for a seasonal push like Christmas gifts. Bid on those services with a nearby radius, and exclude online-only searches, cheap, second hand and brand names you do not sell.

The ad must land on the page for that service or season, with hours, directions and how to reserve or ask. Tracking calls and direction requests first is the only way to see whether the spend brought anyone through the door.

What is included

Exactly what you get.

Campaigns built around what people search when they are ready to buy

Negative keywords, so your budget goes on the searches that turn into work

A landing page that matches the ad, so visitors land on the offer they clicked

Conversion tracking, so you judge the campaign on enquiries

Budget set to what the enquiries are worth to you

Not included. Ad spend is paid to Google directly and is separate from anything Coltura charges. If your site is not ready to convert, we will say so before taking the work.

Built for local shops

Made for your trade.

Every trade asks something different of its website. For a local shop, these are the parts built in.

  • Pages for the product ranges and brands you want known, written as text people can search.
  • A services page covering repairs, orders, gift wrapping and anything else done at the counter.
  • Clear opening hours, parking and directions, with a photo of the frontage.
  • A simple reserve or enquiry form for people who want to check stock before they travel, where it suits the shop.
  • Your Google Business Profile set up with the right categories, products, hours and photos, matching the website.
  • Structured information about what you sell and where you are, so search engines and AI assistants can describe the shop accurately.

What it costs

£1,400, one-off.

The site comes first, at £1,400 one-off. Ad spend is paid to Google directly and is never marked up.

The free Growth Audit comes first either way, so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything.

Questions

The ones that come up.

What should I budget?

Work backwards from what one job is worth. For example, if a typical job nets you £800 and one enquiry in three becomes a job, each enquiry is worth more than a business selling £40 services can spend. For some trades, ads do not pay at all, and we will tell you.

Can I run ads before rebuilding the site?

You can, but you will usually be buying traffic for a page that loses it. A free Growth Audit will tell you which of the two is costing you more.

How do we keep opening hours right everywhere?

The site keeps hours in one place so a change is quick, and your Google Business Profile should be changed at the same time, especially for bank holidays and Christmas. Special hours set in advance on Google avoid people arriving to a closed door. On Growth Care, you can send seasonal hours over and the website is updated as part of the allowance.

Is a website worth it if most customers walk past the door?

Passing trade is a strength, but many people check online before making a special trip, especially for gifts, repairs or something specific. A website is what answers do you have it, are you open and where do I park. It is also what search engines and AI assistants read when someone asks where to buy something locally.

What photos should a shop website have?

A clear photo of the frontage, so people recognise it from the street, then the inside of the shop, key ranges and the counter or workshop if you offer services. Real photos of your own shelves work better than supplier product shots, because they show the shop people will walk into. Good phone photos in daylight are usually enough.
