Local SEO for photographers

SEO for photographers, so the people nearby find you.

Local search is mostly groundwork. Google needs to understand what you do, where you do it, and that other people vouch for you. Your site also has to be fast enough to be worth ranking.

For photographers

What it means in your trade.

Clients search by type of shoot and place: wedding photographer, wedding videographer, headshot photographer, family photographer, product photography, corporate video production, newborn photographer. The groundwork is a page for each type of work you want, venue or location pages built from your own shoots, descriptive text alongside images, and a Google Business Profile with the right categories and photos.

Reviews that name the venue or type of shoot help both people and search engines. What is realistic is being clearly described for your specialities where you work. Directories and national platforms compete for generic searches. Specific pages give search engines and AI assistants something concrete to understand.

What is included

Exactly what you get.

Technical foundations: speed, mobile, crawlable structure, proper headings

Schema markup so your services, area and reviews are machine-readable

Google Business Profile set up and matched to the site

Pages for the places you actually cover

Titles and descriptions written for the person searching

Not included: paid links, ranking promises or impression-count reports. We report on enquiries.

Built for photographers

Made for your trade.

Every trade asks something different of its website. For a photographer, these are the parts built in.

  • Separate pages for each type of work you want more of, such as weddings, portraits, commercial photography or video, each with matching work.
  • Galleries compressed and loaded properly, so the work looks sharp without slowing the page.
  • Package or starting price pages that explain what is included and how bookings are secured.
  • An enquiry form asking for date, location, type of shoot and budget, with a quick availability check.
  • Venue or location pages for places you have shot, built from your own work there.
  • Reviews placed next to matching work, with your Google Business Profile set up and linked.

What it costs

Included in the rebuild.

There is no separate SEO invoice. The groundwork is part of the £1,400 rebuild, one-off, in about 14 working days.

The free Growth Audit comes first either way, so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything.

Questions

The ones that come up.

How long before SEO does anything?

The technical work lands immediately; rankings move over weeks to months. Be wary of any promise of page one within a month.

Do you do SEO as a monthly retainer?

The groundwork is part of the rebuild. Ongoing care at £149 a month keeps it maintained. There is no separate SEO retainer.

Do venue pages really help a wedding photographer?

They can, if they are built from real weddings you have shot there. Couples often search for photographers who know their venue, and a page showing your work there, with notes on light, locations and timing, is genuinely useful to them. Only create pages for venues where you have work to show.

Can we keep using our existing client gallery service?

Yes. Client galleries are best kept on the specialist service you already use, which handles delivery, downloads and print sales. The website links to it clearly, so clients can find their gallery easily. That keeps the website fast and focused on winning new work.

How should commercial and wedding work sit together?

Give each its own section with its own tone. Business clients want to see brand work, headshots or video in a clear, professional layout with process, turnaround and usage rights explained. Couples want emotion, style and availability. Separate sections and enquiry forms let each client see the work that matches their needs.
