Leeds / Otley to Garforth
Leeds website design for a district that runs from Otley to the M62
Leeds is a financial and legal centre for the North, a big student city, and a council area that stretches out to Otley, Wetherby and Morley. For a service business the website has two jobs here: win the searches in the districts you reach easily, and make sense to customers who do not think of themselves as living in Leeds at all.
Otley, Wetherby and Morley are Leeds on paper
The Leeds metropolitan district is far bigger than the city most people picture. It takes in Otley and Wetherby, Morley and Rothwell, Garforth, Pudsey, Horsforth, Guiseley and Yeadon, and each of those has its own high street and its own sense of itself. Nobody in Wetherby searches “electrician Leeds”. They search “electrician Wetherby”, and they want to see that word on your site.

If your patch includes those towns, give the main ones a proper mention: which jobs you do there, how often you are out that way, and whether they sit inside your normal area or cost extra to reach. If they are outside it, say so. Being vague about the edges only fills your phone with calls you then have to turn down.
North Leeds, south Leeds, and different job lists
North and south Leeds are different markets. The Victorian terraces of Chapel Allerton, Meanwood and Harehills need different work from the larger detached houses in Alwoodley and Adel, where extensions and garden rooms are the bigger jobs. South of the river, Beeston, Middleton and Morley sit close to the M621 and M62, easy from the motorway and a slog from the north side at rush hour.

A website should reflect whichever of those you are actually good at. Photos of a finished kitchen in a Chapel Allerton through-terrace speak to the next person living in one. If most of your work is in the north, lead with it, and add south-side pages only if you genuinely want that work.
Headingley landlords and the summer changeover
Leeds has two large universities, plus Leeds Trinity out at Horsforth, and a big private rental market in Headingley, Hyde Park and Burley to go with them. For trades that serve landlords, that is a steady, repeat market with its own calendar: much of the work lands in the gap between one tenancy ending and the next beginning, usually over the summer.

Landlords and letting agents look for different things from a homeowner. They want to know you can turn a job around between tenancies, that you issue the paperwork (a gas safety record every year, an electrical installation condition report every five), and that you can deal with an agent rather than the owner. If that is work you want, give it its own page and say all of that on it.

Nobody is home between eight and six
Leeds pulls in commuters from across West Yorkshire and beyond, and plenty of households inside the city have both adults at work all day. That changes what they need from your website. They are searching at lunchtime or after the children are in bed, and what they want to know is whether you can work around them.

If you do Saturday appointments, early starts, or work with a key safe while the house is empty, put it on the page where the booking decision gets made. Make the enquiry form short enough to finish on a phone in a coffee queue, and say when they will hear back. A customer who fills it in at 9pm and gets a reply by 9am has already started to trust you.
Ads that run when Leeds is actually searching
Paid search in Leeds is contested by firms from across the county as well as the city, so a small budget needs discipline. Schedule adverts for the hours your customers really search, which for many trades means evenings and weekends as much as office hours, and keep the location to the districts you serve.

Point each advert at a page built for it. A landing page for landlord safety certificates in LS6 should talk directly to a landlord. With conversion tracking on the site from day one, you can see which of those pages produce calls and stop paying for the ones that do not.

Questions
The ones that come up.
Should my Leeds website mention Harrogate, Wakefield or Bradford?
Only if you work there often enough to want more of it. Each is a separate market with its own competitors, and a single line naming them will not win much. If one of them brings in a real share of your work, it deserves its own page with jobs you have done there. If not, list it among the places you occasionally cover and leave it at that.
Is a separate page for landlord work worth having?
If landlords and agents are customers you want, yes. They search differently from homeowners, ask different questions, and care about turnaround and paperwork more than finish. A page covering certificates, work between tenancies and how you invoice agents speaks to them directly. It also gives you something specific to point a Google advert at.
Do I need a page for every LS postcode?
No. Postcodes are useful in your areas list, because some people search that way and it shows exactly where you go, but a page per postcode would be dozens of near-copies. Build pages for the districts or towns where you do real volume and can show real jobs, such as Horsforth or Garforth, and let a clear list cover the rest of your patch.
How competitive is search for trades in Leeds?
Busy, as in any large city. Established firms, national brands and lead-generation sites all compete for the obvious searches. Where a local business can do well is in specific services and specific districts, backed by a Google Business Profile with genuine reviews and a site that matches it. Coltura builds that foundation; nobody can honestly promise where it will rank.
Can you look after the site after it launches?
Yes, through Growth Care, which is optional. It covers hosting, security, uptime monitoring, content changes within a fair monthly allowance, new pages as you add services or areas, and regular checks that your forms still send. You message us directly. You own the site outright, so you are also free to look after it yourself or take it elsewhere.
