Web design in Brighton
Web design in Brighton for the firms that fix, clean, build and treat
Brighton and Hove has a big digital and creative sector, so there is no shortage of agencies here, many of them focused on tech, brand and creative clients. This page is for everyone else: the plumbers, builders, cleaners, dentists and salons whose customers want a straight answer and a quick way to book.
A city full of agencies, and who they build for
Search for web design in Brighton and you get page after page of studios. Many of them do excellent work for tech companies, consumer brands and other creative businesses. That is a different job from building a site for a roofer in Patcham or a physio in Hove, where the only test that matters is whether the phone rings.

Coltura is an independent studio in Manchester that works remotely with service businesses across the UK, at a fixed price, starting with a free Growth Audit of the site you already have. If what you want is a brand identity to win design awards, a local studio may suit you better. If what you want is more enquiries from your website, that is the whole focus here.
Squeezed between the Downs and the sea
The city stretches east to west along the coast, with the South Downs to the north and the Channel to the south. Getting from Portslade to Rottingdean takes longer than the distance suggests, and parking across much of the centre is permit-controlled and paid for. Many trades build that into their prices and their patch, and some prefer to stay on one side of the city.

Your website should describe where you work in the names people actually use: Hove, Kemptown, Hanover, Preston Park, Withdean, Patcham, Woodingdean, Saltdean. If you also cover Shoreham, Lewes, Peacehaven or the villages under the Downs, name those too. A vague “all of Sussex” helps nobody decide whether you will come to them.
Customers who expect to book at eleven at night
Plenty of Brighton residents commute to London, work irregular hours in hospitality and the creative industries, or study at the University of Sussex or the University of Brighton. They find you in the evening, on a phone, and they expect to be able to do something about it there and then.

For a lot of service businesses here, that means an online booking option or a short quote form alongside the phone number, with a clear note of when you will reply. A salon or clinic should let people book without calling. A trade can ask for a postcode, a photo and a few words about the job, and promise an answer by a set time. What loses these customers is a site that offers only a number to ring between nine and five.

Independents, and customers who can spot a template
Brighton customers are used to independent businesses with a real personality, from the Lanes and the North Laine to George Street in Hove. They notice when a site is a template padded with stock photos of smiling people in hard hats, and it counts against you.

What wins here is your own photos, your own words, and your own prices where you can publish them. A cleaner who explains in plain language exactly what a deep clean includes, and shows the team who will turn up, will usually beat a rival with a slicker template and nothing specific to say. Keep those details current, too: a price list from two summers ago undoes the trust the rest of the site has earned.
City-wide terms are crowded, so pick your ground
Broad searches across Brighton are well contested, by established local firms, national lead-generation sites and directories. Trying to win the biggest phrases, the trade plus the city name, from a standing start is hard. Narrower searches, for a specific job in a specific area, are usually far more reachable: a loft conversion in Hove, a boiler service in Preston Park, sash window repairs in Kemptown.

Build the site around those. One page per service, a page for each area you want more work from, a Google Business Profile that is complete and matches the site exactly, and reviews that mention the job and the place. The same logic applies if you advertise: several narrow Google Ads campaigns sent to matching landing pages tend to waste less than one broad one. None of it guarantees a position, but it is the part that can be controlled.
What it costs
From £1,400, one-off.
Growth Websites start at £1,400, one-off, for up to six pages. About 14 working days from agreed direction to launch. That covers the audit, the writing, the design, the build, the conversion and local search groundwork, tracking, speed and launch. You own it outright.
The free Growth Audit comes first either way, so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything.

Questions
The ones that come up.
Why use a web designer outside Brighton when there are so many here?
You may not need to, and a local agency can be a good choice. The case for Coltura is narrower: a fixed price, a free Growth Audit before you commit, and a site built entirely around getting enquiries for a service business. Everything is done remotely, and the studio that audits your site is the one that builds it.
Should my website let customers book online?
If your customers book appointments, as with a salon, clinic or dog groomer, usually yes, because many of them are looking outside working hours. For trades, a short quote form that asks for a postcode, a photo and a description often does the same job. Either way, say when you will reply, and keep the phone number visible for people who would rather call.
Can you help my Brighton business show up in local searches?
The foundation can be built properly: a page per service, pages for the areas you cover, correct titles and technical setup, fast loading, and a Google Business Profile that is claimed, complete and linked to the site. That gives you a fair chance in the more specific local searches. Nobody can promise a position, particularly for the most crowded city-wide phrases.
Do I need a separate page for Hove?
If you do a meaningful amount of work in Hove and want more of it, yes. Plenty of people there search for Hove rather than Brighton, and a page about the work you do there, with photos and reviews from Hove customers, is more convincing than a mention in a list. The same applies to Shoreham, Lewes or Portslade if they matter to you.
What do you need from me to get started?
Your current website address for the free Growth Audit, then later your logo if you have one, photos of real work and about half an hour on the phone. The copy is written for you. The build usually takes around 14 working days once the direction is agreed, and you see the real site on a private link while it is being made.

Find out what your website is costing you.
A free Growth Audit, done by hand: a written, prioritised audit of your website, with the three fixes worth making first. It is yours to keep. We work across East Sussex and the rest of the UK, remotely.
We take on a limited number of builds at once, so there is usually a short wait before a new one starts. Once yours starts, it is about 14 working days from agreed direction to launch.
