Local SEO for takeaways

SEO for takeaways, so the people nearby find you.

Local search is mostly groundwork. Google needs to understand what you do, where you do it, and that other people vouch for you. Your site also has to be fast enough to be worth ranking.

For takeaways

What it means in your trade.

Takeaway searches are short and local: pizza delivery, Chinese takeaway, kebab open now, curry house near me, halal takeaway, late-night food. The groundwork is a readable menu on the site, a page stating your delivery areas, opening hours that match everywhere, and a Google Business Profile with the correct categories, photos and ordering link.

Reviews on Google are a large part of how takeaways are chosen, so asking for them on receipts or in the bag, and replying to them, keeps the profile healthy. What is realistic is being correctly described and easy to order from. Consistent details across your site and profile remove the doubts that stop people ordering.

Built for takeaways

Made for your trade.

Every trade asks something different of its website. For a takeaway, these are the parts built in.

  • The full menu as text on the page, by category, with prices, spice levels and dietary markings that are simple to change.
  • A tap-to-call number and your direct ordering link placed at the top of every menu section.
  • A delivery page listing the areas you cover, minimum order, charges and typical times, with collection details.
  • A section explaining how allergens are handled and how to tell you about an allergy when ordering.
  • Your Google Business Profile set up with the right categories, hours and ordering link, matching the website.
  • Structured information about cuisine, hours and delivery areas so search engines and AI assistants can describe you accurately.

What it costs

Included in the rebuild.

There is no separate SEO invoice. The groundwork is part of the £1,400 rebuild, one-off, in about 14 working days.

The free Growth Audit comes first either way, so you find out what is actually wrong before you spend anything.

Questions

The ones that come up.

How long before SEO does anything?

The technical work lands immediately; rankings move over weeks to months. Be wary of any promise of page one within a month.

Do you do SEO as a monthly retainer?

The groundwork is part of the rebuild. Ongoing care at £149 a month keeps it maintained. There is no separate SEO retainer.

Is it worth giving a discount for ordering direct?

That is your decision, but if you do, the website is where it should be stated clearly, near the menu and the order button. Customers who find you on an app often do not know they can order direct. A short line explaining that ordering direct supports the shop, and what they get for it, gives them a reason to switch next time.

What should the website say about allergens?

It should explain how customers tell you about an allergy, how your kitchen handles allergens and which dishes contain what, where you have that information. Food businesses must be able to give allergen information to customers, including for delivery orders, so having it written down on the site is sensible. The details must come from you, and they need updating whenever recipes change.

Do we need photos of every dish?

No. A few good photos of your most popular dishes, taken in decent light, do more than a gallery of every item. They should be real food from your kitchen, so what arrives looks like what was shown. Photos are compressed so the menu still loads quickly for someone ordering on a phone with weak signal.
